I would have thought this would be obvious.
The reason is very simple: Liberalisim is -counting- on the dissatisfaction and unhappiness of its intended demographic. If liberal minds could be made happy and satisfied liberalisim would eventually put itself out of business, or wouldnt exist in the first place.
Conservatives are free to be of a good humor because the dont have to appear completely worried about every little thing (every last minority, every single tragic event or 'injustice'). Instead they look for solutions that come much closer to helping everyone across the board.
When youre busy picking at every last issue or detail in the name of 'justice' like Jackson or Sharpton theres just no time left for humor, besides this is SERIOUS business.
Fiery condecending indignance is a liberal stock in trade.
Liberal comedians such as Al Franken and Bill Maher arent dealing in humor, theyre BITCHING.
Importantly: Conservatisim is a political perspective thats -based- on optimisim and contentment.
And of course because it takes a conservative mind to see just how goofy liberalisim is, and sometimes a true sense of humor to cope.

Hey, in case you didn't notice politics IS fucking serious business, and I don't want a clown or a joker to do my serious business, thank you.
A cheerful-hearted person can find a silver lining to every cloud without being cynical, without shutting out reality, and without looking to stick the other guy with the check. You don't need to be a clown or comedian to have a positive outlook on things.
One has to have a REALISTIC outlook to get anything done. Not a negative one, not a positive one. One has to see things for what they are to solve anything.
What you don't see is that one thing is having a good attitude, a reactive and efficient stance on problems and whatnot and the other is laughing about a problem, and joking about it.
What you see as "a good attitude" is making fun of problems that for you maybe aren't that much important, but to others are a very concrete reality.
So please, let's not be stupid ok? There's just one reason why republicans can and do joke about the current state of your country, and it is that that state will never touch them, that's why they have the nerve to joke about it.
How do you know what I think constitutes a good attitude?
When a serious issue arises, I face it. I might joke to lighten the mood and I'll try to be optimistic and keep from getting mired in despair, but that doesn't mean that I neglect the problem.
